In this 5-day plan, you will discover the great variety of special birds in the Northern Colombian Birding Trail ; through the dry forest, rainforest and cloud forest hides a great biological and cultural treasure. Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta is one of the most incredible and popular places for bird watching in our wonderful country, with more than 25 endemic species this route covers the cloud forest, tropical humid forest and dry forest in Santa Marta, and the Dry Forest in La Guajira peninsula, a fascinating trip with a large number of birds.

Duration: 5 days (starting and ending in the city of Santa Marta)

Species

Chestnut piculet, buffy hummingbird. Trinidad euphonia, orinocan saltator, vermilion cardinal, scarlet ibis, tocuyo sparrow, crested bobwhite, pale-legged hornero, pileated finch, rufous-vented chachalaca, white-wiskered spinatail, Glaucus tanager, northern-scrub Flycatcher, green-rumped Parrolet, slender-billed tyrannulet.

Itinerary

Día 1:

Start at 5am in Santa Marta, transportation by 4×4 to the hotspot La Cabaña (dry forest), where we can find: Santa Marta Bruch-finch, Sierra Nevada Brush-Finch, Santa Marta Tapaculo, Santa Marta Antbird, Santa Marta Foliagegleaner, rusty-breasted Antpitta, Swallow Tanager, rosy truch-tanager, jacamar, whoping Motmot, Black-back Antshrike and many more; then we continue through the town of Minca and making stops along the route (rainforest), arrival at the lodge at 1pm (optional El Dorado or Casa Café), lunch, accommodation, in the afternoon we do activity near the lodge, dinner.

Día 2:

Departure at 4:00 am, to the San Lorenzo ridge (2. 700 masl); here we find species such as: Santa Marta Parakeet, Scarlet-fronted Parakeet, Santa Marta Warbler, Mountain Foliagleaner, white-lored Warbler (endemic), Santa Marta Tapaculo (endemic), Brown-rumped Tapaculo, Golden-winged Sparrow (near endemic), Santa Marta Emerald Toucanet, Keel-billed Toucan, Black-chested Jay, white-tipped quetzal; return to the lodge afternoon, lunch, dinner.

Día 3:

inicio 6am, sendero cerca al hotel, desayuno, salida después de almuerzo transporte 4×4 hasta Minca.

Día 4:

transporte 6am, visita Parque Tayrona , alojamiento cercano a parque Tayrona (según disponibilidad por temporada de vacaciones)

Día 5:

Iniciaremos a las 4.45 am, transporte a Camarones-Guajira, donde visitaremos el resguardo indigena wayu, acompañado por un guía local buscando las especialidades del bosque muy seco: Chestnut piculet, buffy hummingbird. Trinidad euphonia, orinocan saltator, vermilion cardinal, scarlet ibis, tocuyo sparrow, crested bobwhite, pale-legged hornero, pileated finch, rufous-vented chachalaca, white-wiskered spinatail, Glaucus tanager, northern-scrub Flycatcher, green-rumped Parrolet, slender-billed tyrannulet, almuerzo, regreso a Santa Marta, fin de servicios.
